‘Resign and move on’: Todd Woodbridge hits out at Davis Cup ‘wreckers’
The Davis Cup will be reformatted into a 14 day event in Abu Dhabi due to finish mid-December, angering tennis players and fans.
The International Tennis Federation voted in 2018 to refinance the Cup, selling it for $3 billion to an independent facilitator with no tennis experience, Todd Woodbridge explained.
“As Lleyton [Hewitt] said this week, they sold their soul.”
He told Mark Levy the administrators have serious questions to ask of themselves, arguing the competition now has a five-year expiry date.
“There is no history involved in it, there is nothing that any of us … grew up and were a part of.
“If you wreck the most historic competition in the game, you probably need to resign and move on.”
