Defence Minister Peter Dutton has responded to the now infamous ‘boofhead’ sledge which went viral on social media.

During Question Time on Tuesday, Mr Dutton stood up while Anthony Albanese was speaking, only to be told to “sit down, boofhead” by the Labor leader.

Ray Hadley suggested to Mr Dutton that the term was more one of endearment than insult.

“You develop a thick skin, and I don’t take any offence to it at all,” he replied.

“I think it showed to people … he’s got a temper on him, there’s no question about that.”

Ray Hadley: “I think in another lifetime you and Albanese would get on alright … there are similarities there that perhaps people can’t see.”

Peter Dutton: “He’s a socialist though, Ray.”
