Australia’s most notorious conman Peter Foster re-arrested at Victorian hobby farm
Serial conman Peter Foster’s six months on the run have come to an end.
The 59-year-old was tracked down and arrested at a hobby farm in the Macedon Ranges northwest of Melbourne this morning by federal police officers.
Foster, who was arrested in August 2020 over an alleged cryptocurrency scam, removed a monitoring device and fled ahead of his scheduled court appearance in May.
AFP Commander Richard Chin told Jim Wilson the “really concentrated work” of the Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team and close collaboration with Queensland Police led to today’s arrest.
Multiple agencies and the big four banks also contributed intelligence, he said.
“Piecing together that information, doing some good detective work across the board … helped us to narrow down on the location of Mr Foster.”
