‘I’m incredibly proud’: Rebecca Wilson posthumously inducted into Hall of Honour
Jim Wilson’s late big sister Rebecca Wilson has been posthumously inducted into the SCG Media Hall of Honour.
Five years ago at the age of 54, “force of nature” Bec passed away following a battle with breast cancer.
“Incredibly proud” brother Jim paid tribute to his sister and her achievements as an influential sports reporter and commentator.
“We disagreed a hell of a lot professionally, but I respected her fearless reporting and her passion for the industry.”
As a Hall of Honour inductee, Bec will join the likes of Richie Benaud, Frank Hyde and Norman May.
SCG Trust Chairman Tony Shepherd told Jim it’s an honour to induct the “fearless and fearsome” journalist alongside them.
“She paved the way for women in sports journalism in Australia, in my view.”

Jim’s other sister Liz called in on the open line to celebrate the achievement with her sibling.
“Sitting here under my fan in Brisbane, counting down the days for these borders to open … [it] just put the cherry on top.
“What a lot of people didn’t know about Bec is she had a beautiful soft side.”
