Cracked light rail to be back in service in October
Sydney’s inner west light rail is expected to come back into service towards the end of next year.
Services on the inner west light rail were suspended in late October after cracks were discovered in the Spanish-built trams.
From February, the state government will use trams from the CBD line to supplement the network until the trams are repaired.
While repairs were first estimated to take up to 18 months Transport for NSW COO Howard Collins told Joe Hildebrand the fleet would be up and running in October, 2022.
“By the October long weekend, we expect every tram to be back in service.”
