Labor rules out ‘nonsense’ claims of alliance with The Greens

Article image for Labor rules out ‘nonsense’ claims of alliance with The Greens

Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese has categorically denied his party will form an alliance with The Greens to gain government.

The Labor Party instead has its sights set on establishing a majority government at this year’s election.

Mr Albanese told Joe Hildebrand suggestions of such an alliance are “nonsense”.

“You know no one has fought The Greens … harder than I have.

“I want a majority government in my own right.”

He added this will differ from the Liberal Party, where Scott Morrison will have to “get permission” from Nationals leader Barnaby Joyce “to do anything”.

“And no deals with the Greens, no matter what, even if it costs you government?” Joe asked.

“Correct!” Mr Albanese fired back. “I’m the only person after the next election who’s actually seeking to have a majority government.”
