Teachers union welcomes free rapid tests for students
The teachers’ union is welcoming a plan to send rapid antigen tests to schools, but warns there will be disruptions.
Premier Dominic Perrottet insists February 1 is the non-negotiable date for children to return to school.
The Daily Telegraph reports the NSW government is planning to deliver rapid antigen tests to the state’s public, Catholic and private from the first week of term one.
NSW Teachers Federation President Angelo Gavrielatos told Ben Fordham a suggestion to bring back retired teachers to fill a staff shortage will not work.
“Some of these statements and announcements being made smack of desperation.”
