48 students have received the top ATAR of 99.95 following the 2021 HSC.

Cian Bowes was the only student to top the state in three subjects: French extension, German continuers and German extension.

The Sydney Grammar student told Ben Fordham his first languages were Swiss, German and Mandarin.

“My brain was taught to process languages from early on.

“I didn’t learn English until kindergarten and pre-school.”

Elsa Tonkinwise topped the state in Ancient History and tells Ben she was very surprised.
