TGA provisionally approves Novavax Vaccine & New COVID-pills for Australia
The National drug regulator has been provisionally approved the Novavax vaccine as well as other oral treatments for vulnerable patients.
There are still some uncertainties about the vaccine, hence being provisional but the head of the TGA Adjunct Professor John Skerritt has told Luke Grant, “We have tested every batch of the vaccine and we put big staff in for a lot of hours to test it”.
The reason that the vaccine has been able to be approved so quickly is Australia’s joint work with other countries.
“We do so much of the work jointly with other countries, but we reach our own independent decision.”
“I had the team back on boxing day, back from long service leave, there such a dedicated team”.
The Novavax vaccine has current approval for initial vaccination and is awaiting the green light for booster shots as well.
