‘Step up’: NSW Treasurer disappointed with no federal government business support
The New South Wales government has unveiled its new support package for small businesses, but NSW Treasurer Matt Kean isn’t happy.
In response to Josh Frydenburg’s comments confirming his stance to not back the states about the contribution, Matt Kean told Jim Wilson, “Now is the time to be stepping up and support small businesses in New South Wales”.
“You only need to walk down the main streets of any suburb across Sydney and see how difficult it is.”
“Rather than the federal government stepping aside, we need them to step up.”
Mr Kean is taking aim at Scott Morrison and his Treasurer for not signing up to the scheme stating, “It’s a cop-out for the federal government to slink away at this stage when small businesses need them.”
“I want the federal government to be standing shoulder to shoulder with us.”
With more than $63 billion of taxpayer funding going into NSW already Mr Kean said, “Well Ash Barty didn’t win the Australian Open because she played a good semi, you’ve got to deal with each challenge that you’re confronted with”.
