“Certainly Not” Transport Minister confirms no knowledge of service cancellation
The NSW Transport Minister David Elliott has confirmed he did not know and was not consulted about the cancellation of train services early Monday morning.
“I didn’t sign off on this decision… It was an operational decision that was made at 2 o’clock this morning, without any reference to me,” confirmed the Minister Elliott.
The decision to cancel rail services were later confirmed to be made by the head of Sydney Trains CEO Matthew Longland.
“The suggestion and political point scoring that’s going on today saying the Premier or I had any involvement in what is essentially an operational decision is dispensable,” says the Transport Minister.
Reduced services will return across all lines on the Sydney Trains network from 5:00 am on Tuesday 22nd February and will run at a minimum 30-minute frequency throughout the day.
150 rail replacement bus services will also operate along major rail corridors
It is expected skeleton timetables will be in effect for at least 2-3 days before timetables return to normal.
