‘Long term impact’: How will parents and students react to the easing of school restrictions?
Masks are now no longer compulsory for school students from the end of February and the news is set to please a lot of school children and parents.
Child Development Psychologist Dr Rose Cantali told Jim Wilson, “we’ve had children be extremely worried about COVID”.
With masks no longer required and kids now allowed to mix with other year groups, she said, “this is what we want”.
“School connection is very very important.
“I think it will have a long term impact on some students.”
Northern Beaches Primary School teacher Kate also joined Jim Wilson about the topic.
Kate is pleased about the removal of the cohorting saying “it didn’t seem wise”.
Despite the new rules Kate will continue to wear a mask, “As a teacher, I’ll absolutely continue to wear one as there are children that are positive.”
“We can’t always rely on common sense.”
