Peter Dutton slams Premier looking out for ‘self-interest’ amid slur allegations
The federal Defence Minister has lashed out at the Queensland Premier for her ‘arrogant’ response to allegations a misogynistic slur was used against the state Integrity Commissioner.
Nikola Stepanov told a parliamentary committee Public Service Commission CEO Rob Setter had been called her “a b—h on a witch hunt” in a phone call in 2018.
Mr Setter has denied making any misogynistic comments to or about Dr Stepanov.
The claim was made amid ongoing concerns about the integrity of Palaszczuk government ministers.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk suggested earlier this week that Dr Stepanov and Mr Setter “sit in a room and have a full and frank discussion” to resolve the issue.
Peter Dutton, who is the Member for Dickson in Queensland, told Ray Hadley he thinks Ms Palaszczuk is “showing a level of arrogance here that we haven’t seen in Queensland for a long period of time.”
“They have no regard for anything other than their own self-interest,” he said.
“I really can’t believe Annastacia Palaszczuk believes she can get away with that!”
