Australian Paramedics Association (NSW) will proceed with industrial action

Luke Grant

Chris Kastelan, President of the Australian Paramedics Association (APA) (NSW), joins Luke Grant to explain their industrial grievances. They’ve proceeded with industrial action as planned until Tuesday morning, despite recommendations made by the IRC on Monday afternoon as the result of a last-minute attempt by the Government to stop the action.

Mr Kastelan says they are taking the action because “Paramedics want real change from this Government.  “We haven’t seen that change yet, so our action has continued as planned”, he says.

Since crews signed on on Monday morning, Paramedics around NSW have been taking action by refusing all ‘staff movement’: the movement of crews away from their designated station once on shift. These movements are routinely used to patch over roster shortfalls due to under-resourcing.
