The lucky fan who caught the ball Buddy used to kick his 1000th goal will return it to the Sydney Swans player today.

Alex Wheeler told Ben Fordham it’s only right Lance Franklin be reunited with the ball.

“It’s a good feeling to sort of hand something back like that that everyone else can enjoy as well.”

Sydney Swans CEO Tom Harley said Alex has been offered a couple of 5 years’ worth of Swans memberships for handing back the ball to Lane Franklin.

Tom told Jim Wilson he also got a signed jersey from Lance and other merchandise.

“He holds a special place of sporting history.”

One of the Swans’ biggest fans, Edna, passed away last year at the age of 93.

Her grandkids sprinkled her ashes on the SCG after the historic goal.

“She always wanted to do the coin toss in the centre … so we sort of beelined it to the centre.”
