Queensland legend Johnathan Thurston says he’s honoured after being named as an assistant coach for the Maroons.

New Maroons head coach Billy Slater will also be joined by Cameron Smith and Josh Hannay as assistants.

Thurston joined The Continuous Call Team and says the job won’t be easy.

“I’m really honoured that Bill (Slater) asked me to be a part of the staff this year,” Thurston said. 

“We’ve got our work cut out for us, but in saying that hopefully all our boys are fit and raring to go when Origin comes around”.
