Former Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Nick Coatsworth has said vaccine mandates are not a “useful tool”.

This comes after Australian Chief Medical Officer Professor Paul Kelly said now is the time for our county to stop reporting daily COVID-19 deaths and instead focus on the number of excess deaths.

The deaths are recorded by the Australian Bureau of Statistics, rather than by Health departments.

Professor Kelly cited a paper that shows Australia is one of only five countries to actually record a negative excess mortality rate due to COVID-19 in 2020 and 2021.

The Former Deputy Chief Medical Officer told Luke Grant, that COVID mandates need to go.

“All you tend to do at this point of the pandemic is rust people onto their thinking.”
