Minister for Sport ‘relieved’ with NRL grand final staying in Sydney
Queensland’s hopes of hosting the NRL grand final have been squashed.
The ARL Commission struck a deal with the New South Wales government today to keep the final in Sydney.
The new agreement will also see the NSW government spend $800m building four new suburban grounds.
Brookvale Oval, Shark Park, and Leichhardt Oval will be rebuilt whilst plans have already been unveiled to refurbish Penrith Stadium.
NSW Minister for Sport Stuart Ayres told Jim Wilson he is relieved.
“I don’t think we’re ever gonna see the grand final leave Sydney.”
