Jim Wilson urges Liberals to ‘fight’ after election wipeout
Jim Wilson has called on the next Liberal leader to “fight” after Anthony Albanese became Australia’s 31st prime minister.
After their disastrous election loss, Jim said while Scott Morrison had done a good job during the pandemic, in this election, the former PM was “way too safe and didn’t fight a war in a number of key areas, be it fiscal conservatism and major reform”.
Jim said Scott Morrison, “tried to just be a manager and lost votes on all sides, but particularly with the conservative base who felt ignored”.
While recriminations continue, Jim questioned if the results were due to Australians “just wanting a change”.
“Did Labor actually win the election or was it a case of people just wanting a change whether it be Labor, the Greens, the fake independents, basically anyone but Scott Morrison?”
“To me, the Liberal Party must not hit the panic button because I think what unfolded on Saturday night was a protest vote against Scott Morrison,” Jim said.
