Jim Wilson has questioned why former Chief Health Officer in QLD Dr Jeannette Young received a Companion of the Order of Australia honour.

Jim believes Dr Young was a “complete disrupter” during the COVID health crisis, due to her “demonising” the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Dr  Young made comments when she spoke at a media conference in June 2021 as part of a broader debate about who should get which vaccine and when.

Jim isn’t impressed and believes the appointment of a Companion Order of Australia honour is an example of how the “lists can sometimes get it so terribly wrong”.

“Seriously, how offensive and downright insulting to those on the frontline who actually put the country first during the height of the pandemic,” Jim said.

“It’s an insult to people on that honours list who richly deserve to be acknowledged.”
