Peter Dutton warns of people smuggler ‘resurgence’ after boat intercepted
The Opposition leader has raised concerns of a “resurgence” in people-smuggling boats after an asylum seeker vessel headed to Australia was intercepted.
The Sri Lankan navy stopped the multi-day fishing trawler off the coast of Trincomalee on Wednesday.
Peter Dutton told Ray Hadley “people smugglers have got Labor worked out”.
“Nothing has changed in this space except the fact Labor has been elected.
“I hope that our defences can withstand what is obviously a resurgence.”
