Chris Minns promises to contact NSW Premier today over bail loophole
The state Labor leader will contact the Premier today in a bipartisan effort to close an ‘unacceptable’ loophole in bail laws.
Ray Hadley has this week revealed at least three convicted paedophiles have been granted bail while they await sentencing.
Dominic Perrottet yesterday promised Ray Hadley he would work to block judges from granting bail to any convicted criminal awaiting sentencing.
The vow appears to have the backing of NSW Labor, with Chris Minns today telling The Ray Hadley Morning Show he plans to contact the Premier.
“I’m going to contact the Premier today and say to him ‘let’s work together on getting legislation to ensure that this doesn’t happen again,'” he said.
“Nothing has emerged from the NSW government about proposed changes but obviously we can’t afford to wait.”
