Clinton Maynard

Aussie historian, author & entertainer Jim Haynes joins Overnight each week for his unique knowledge of the not-so-famous characters from Australia’s history. This week Jim shines the spotlight on Sir Frederick Pottinger – ‘Blind Freddy’.

Sir Frederick William Pottinger, 2nd Baronet (1831–1865), was a police inspector, was born on April 27, 1831, in India. He became famous for leading the New South Wales police in their hunt for the bushrangers Ben Hall, John Gilbert, Frank Gardiner and John Dunn.
