In my game constantly talking about new models you quickly forget some of the
cars that only five years ago were our best sellers.

The Holden Commodore comes to mind and while Holden stopped production in October 2017 you hardly
ever see one today.

Holden at that time was the No. 2 seller behind market leader
Toyota yet today the Holden Lion badge is a rare sighting. Holden in 1958
commanded 50.8 percent of the local new vehicle market, the Commodore built-in 1978 went on to become the company vehicle of choice – in 1999 more than
85,000 were sold yet six years later the number had dropped to just 56,000.

In 2014 the VF model was recognised as the best Commodore produced but sadly
by that time few buyers wanted a large sedan. Today, however, performance
skewed Commodore V8 sedans and utes are highly sought collector models
bringing huge prices.
