Warriors’ emotional homecoming

After two years playing NRL games exclusively on Aussie soil, this Saturday will see the emotional return of the New Zealand Warriors to Mount Smart stadium in Auckland.

Warriors boss Cameron George joined Mark Levy on The Morning Show to reflect on what the homecoming means to the team and its fans.

“It’s been very emotional … we’ve had a wonderful welcome back to Mount Smart stadium … words can’t explain how we feel at the moment,” he said.

Mark Levy also suggested the NRL heads across the pond next season for a magic round on Kiwi soil to show support for the sacrifices of the Warriors players and fans.

“I keep challenging the NRL to come up with some plans around that … there’s opportunity, we’d love to see it,” Mr George said.

“Between the Pacific Islands and New Zealand, we are a large large number that compete and participate in the NRL systems, so it’s a really big landscape for us to keep inspiring the next generations.”
