Federal MP for Macquarie Susan Templeman says “she isn’t convinced” of the benefits of raising the Warragamba Dam.

The spill rate from the Warragamba dam has fallen to 380 gigalitres per day.

Water New South Wales says it will continue working closely with the weather bureau to monitor forecasts and inflows.

The discussion on whether or not the Dam should be lifted was raised after the concern grows with today’s floods.

Ms Templeman told Mark Levy the views of the community need to be “understood”.

Mark Levy: “Can you look [your community] in the eyes and say ‘I’ve done everything in my power as the Federal Member for Macquarie to stop that water coming over the Dam wall?”

Susan Templeman: “Well that makes an assumption that is just a quick fix.”

Minister for Western Sydney Stuart Ayres told Mark Levy it’s “crucial” the Dam wall gets raised.

“The time has come for people to recognise that this community deserves better flood mitigation.”

Mr Ayres said the time for talk is done and action needs to be taken.
