Star Masterchef judge Melissa Leong has joined Joe Hildebrand on Afternoons to talk about tonight’s finale and to reveal some behind-the-scenes secrets.

Melissa first revealed how the food is tasted warm before it’s presented to the judges for official tasting.

“When the challenge is over we whip around and taste everything hot … then when it’s plated and we’re tasting on camera then we use maybe the visuals or other ques in order to add to what we already know about the food,” she said.

Ms Leong also answered 2GB listeners’ questions about how the dishes are washed, how long each day of filming takes and what the other contestants do while they’re watching from the balcony.

She was also challenged to come up with some dishes using five ingredients from listeners’ pantries.
