Calls for Albo to re-instate covid payments hit fever-pitch

The NSW Labor leader Chris Minns and the Shadow Health Minister Anne Ruston have both implored Anthony Albanese to re-instate the removed covid payments to casual workers.

This follows Mr Albanese blaming the move on a end-date inherited from the former government.

Anne Ruston responded to the PM’s excuse on Drive.

“That’s just an absolute cop-out,” she told Jim Wilson.

“Clearly this government doesn’t seem to have a strategy with covid going on.”

NSW Labor leader Chris Minns has also turned on his own party, calling for the PM to restart the scheme.

“It’s the law of the land in NSW that there’s seven days of isolation if you have covid 19.”

“We believe that they should revisit this decision,” he said.

Dr Ross Walker from Healthy Living also joined Jim Wilson to give his thoughts on the issue.

“If these poor people are told to isolate for a week … they’ll go to work sick,” he said.

“It’s a false economy to say ‘we’re not going to keep helping these people’.”
