Danny Abdallah, the father of three children killed in the Oatlands crash has joined Jim Wilson on Drive to respond to today’s successful appeal to reduce the killer’s sentence.

Danny’s children Antony, Angelina and Sienna Abdallah were all killed when Samuel Davidson smashed his ute into a group of kids while drunk and on drugs.

Today the appeal to reduce Davidson’s sentence was successful, bringing the non-parole period down to 15 years.

Mr Abdallah said, “It’s a tough one … we’re slowly moving forward … it brought us back there again,” he said.

“I’m just disappointed by the justice system.”

“It’s not about me and my family, it’s the next family that goes through this.”

Friend of the Abdallah family and NSW member for Lakemba Jihad Dib also joined Drive to talk about today’s appeal result.

“I think the same is everybody else, there’s a shock, there’s a disappointment,” he told Jim Wilson.

“It’s hard to fathom how four lives lost can mean so little.”

Lawyer Sam Macedone also joined Jim Wilson to give his legal analysis of the Samuel Davidson appeal decision.

“I think the first sentence of seven years per life was pretty-well accurate,” he said.

“The appeal system is part of the judicial system … sometimes they get it right and sometimes they don’t.

“As it is now it’s too discretionary.”
