‘He hasn’t turned up’: Angus Taylor scolds PM for silence on foot and mouth disease

The Shadow Treasurer Angus Taylor has taken a swipe at Anthony Albanese on Afternoons, calling on him to front the media and explain Labor’s plan to keep foot and mouth disease out.

“This is the equivalent to a nuclear bomb going off in our agricultural sector,” he told Deborah Knight.

“We haven’t heard Albanese say a word about it, he has not turned up on this issue.

“It has to be something the Prime Minister is engaged in and communicating on.”

Minister for Industry and Science Ed Husic fired back at Mr Taylor, reading out a list of actions the Government have taken and claiming intervention from Mr Albanese is not the priority.

“The biggest thing … that the opposition can say that needs to be done is the Prime Minister needs to do a press conference,” he said.

The pair also engaged on the Reserve Bank review and Labor’s plan for a federal ICAC.
