The Finance Minister has hit out at Rail Union Secretary Alex Claassens as rail workers plan to walk off the job.

Rail strikes are planned from midnight until 4am tomorrow.

The union claims the strikes are over the safety of internationally-manufactured trains but Minister Damien Tudehope says it’s centred around a 20 per cent pay increase.

Mr Tudehope told Ben Fordham that Mr Claassens is “changing the goal posts”.

“I can interpret it no other way. We have conceded to do work to a perfectly-safe train that the union has requested so what else is it.

“It has to be about the dollars.”
