Locals fight to save Redfern’s National Centre of Indigenous Excellence
Locals are fighting to save Redfern’s National Centre for Indigenous Excellence which is set to close in a matter of days.
It provides teenagers with tutoring and job skill lessons, – and parents rely on it for out-of-school care.
It’s all due to a breakdown in negotiations between the Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation – and the NSW Aboriginal Land Council.
Local Indigenous Activist Shane told Ben Fordham they will stage a sit-in on Monday.
“This place has done amazing stuff for people, young, old, black, white and it’s helped people heal.”
