Sports Minister Alister Henskens says his comments about Rabbitohs CEO Blake Solly have been “taken out of context”.

The Rabbitohs are calling for fairness after a highly-anticipated return to Allianz Stadium was blocked by the state government.

Minister Henskens reportedly “lashed out” at Rabbitohs CEO Blake Solly for running his campaign through the media.

Mr Solly joined Ray Hadley on air yesterday to discuss the decision from the government.

Mr Henskens told Ray Hadley Souths agreed in November last year to remain playing at Accor Stadium until 2030 and has clarified his comments.

“The Rabbitohs went straight to the media rather than coming to me personally,” he said.

“I wasn’t trying to have a go at the media, I was just trying to make the point that there’s a way to have professional commercial negotiations.”
