Peter V’landys admits NRL Grand Finals could be up for sale
ARLC Chairman Peter V’landys says the Grand Final could be up for sale from next year after Queensland lost out on hosting the decider.
NSW made a last ditch effort to secure the Grand Final at the Accor Stadium on October 2.
Ben Fordham has questioned why the NRL wouldn’t move the Grand Final around each year.
“If we can’t come to an arrangement with the NSW government that’s certainly an opportunity for us,” Mr V’landys told him.
“We do now have the flexibility in taking the game elsewhere.”
On the NSW government’s refusal to honour a promise to upgrade suburban grounds, instead investing in flood victims, Mr Vl’andys says this was unfair.
“Pitting us against the flood victims was really a political stunt.
“They can do both – the State Government can honour their agreement in relation to community assets and assist the flood victims.”
