Bill Woods is joined by Amanda Benson, Head of Fine Art & Luxury for Lloyds Auctions, about a sculpture from the first artist to be appointed officially for the Second World War going to auction completely unreserved with all bids starting at just $1.

Lyndon Dadswell was one of Australia’s most influential and important war sculptors, being the first sculptor to be appointed as an official war artist of the Second World War.

According to Lyndon Dadswell the sculpture depicts trading, savings and development wedded to the Flora and Fauna of West Australia.

The sculpture is currently on loan to Macquarie University in Sydney and is ready to find a home with a new custodian.

“We have received interest from all over the country including state libraries and museums who are considering purchasing the sculpture with the aim to preserve important Australian history,” said Mr Lee Hames, Chief Operations Officer for Lloyds Auctions.

The sculpture goes under the Lloyds Auctions hammer today at 7:00pm.
