Ford moves to full electrification by 2030

Ford will release the next generation Mustang for sale in March next year expected to be the last opportunity for Mustang fanciers to own an internal combustion engine model before the company goes full electric by 2030. The final seventh generation petrol Mustang will be previewed on September 14 on opening day of the Detroit Motor Show. In what could be the last of its kind, Ford is asking Mustang owners to form a parade referred too as The Stampede stretching from Ford’s Dearborn headquarters to downtown Detroit. The move toward electrification is expected to see the loss of around 10,000 jobs as the car maker rationalises towards a less labour intensive future, electric cars requiring fewer components and sharing many of them as well. Since April 1 in the U.S. Ford has sold 286 more electric Mach-E Mustangs compared to petrol models. I’m David Berthon
