Dating app dangers spotlighted in ‘concerning’ new findings

Australians are being warned about the danger of dating apps after a recent survey of 10,000 people.
A new report from the Australian Institute of Criminology found a third of people have been abused in person as a result of meeting someone online.
Almost half of those reported their perpetrator subsequently unmatched or blocked them, or deleted their account and this removed evidence of their conversations.
Australian Institute of Criminology Research Manager Sarah Napier told Deborah Knight the findings are “pretty concerning”.
“There is a lot more these sites can do to protect users from harm.”
