‘It’s insane’: Frustration grows over new Sydney billboards blocking walkways
The City of Sydney Liberal Councillor has slammed the placement of new billboards in Sydney.
New billboards that attempted to “modernise our streets” and provide significant advertising revenue for the city council have been blasted.
Due to their height and length, many pedestrians have complained about the billboards popping up all around the City of Sydney, including the CBD, Surry Hills and Potts Point.
The signs replaced older phone booth-mounted advertising panels which had been around for 20 years or more.
Lyndon Gannon told Jim Wilson he is getting texts and calls from pedestrians asking for the removal of the billboards as it’s affecting businesses placing tables and chairs out.
“There was no proper review for the placement.”
