The New South Wales government insists it put years of consultation into new coercive control laws.

Landmark legislation has been introduced to state parliament.

The government needs the support of the upper house for coercive control to become a criminal offence.

Attorney General Mark Speakman told Deborah Knight it’s time to get on with it, in order to better protect women.

“This is something that will save lives and stop obnoxious behaviour.

“Every day we wait is another day we are potentially putting someone’s life in danger.”
