‘It’s another tax’: Opposition criticises Labor for methane pledge
Farmers, gas producers and landfill operators are worried they could face a new tax on methane emissions.
The federal government is likely to commit to a global pledge to reduce methane emissions by 30 per cent over the next decade.
Shadow Climate Minister Ted O’Brien told Jim Wilson the tax will hurt several industries.
“Australian farmers and consumers are going to get hurt from this.
“This is essentially another tax which people cannot afford.”
