For many years, it seemed as though China was set to safeguard Australia’s economic future. The nation was embracing liberal values and opening itself up to the world in spectacles like the Beijing Olympics.

However, Senior Analyst at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, Alex Joske, has written a new book which details how this perception of China was shaped by Chinese intelligence officials. Luke chatted with Alex to find out how China managed to dupe the world.

Alex’s book, ‘Spies and Lies: How China’s Covert Operations Fooled the World’ is available in all good bookstores and can be purchased online.
