Transport Minister demands new Sydney ferries are built locally
The Transport Minister has put a stop to the purchase of any more River-Class ferries.
There were plans to purchase seven more Indonesian-built River-Class ferries, even through they are tall to safely pass under certain bridges on the Parramatta River.
Transport Minister David Elliott told Jim Wilson he is demanding the new ferries be built in Australia.
“We need to go down the road of local manufacturing.
“I’m interested in creating local jobs in NSW and Australia.”
