The State Government will take the Rail, Tram and Bus Union to court over a move to switch off Opal Card readers tomorrow afternoon.

The RTBU will provide commuters with free travel “indefinitely” by turning off Opal machines from 3pm until 7pm each weekday from Thursday.

NSW Transport Minister David Elliott told Ben Fordham the government will seek damages and any loss of revenue.

“We believe the taxpayers of NSW deserve that revenue … and the union denying it should cough up.”
