‘My heart sinks’: Bikie associate on the run after allegedly cutting off ankle bracelet
A bikie associate is on the run after he allegedly cut off his ankle bracelet while on bail.
Mark Horne was on bail awaiting trial on charges over the shooting of a truck driver and theft of $550,000 in cash at Mt Lambie in the Blue Mountains.
Police have issued an arrest warrant for the 32-year-old, investigating the possibility he may try to leave the country.
Their inquiries suggest Mark may be attempting to travel to Queensland to flee to Southeast Asia by sea.
He was last known to have been on Coorabin Place, Riverwood, on Friday morning, where it’s believed he entered an unknown vehicle which was last seen heading westbound on the M5 Motorway.
NSW Attorney General Mark Speakman said the judiciary must weigh up the flight risk when granting bail.
“My heart sinks in cases like this, and you can understand the frustration of police who work for months or years to get the evidence together to catch someone who is accused of very serious crimes, and then they slip through their fingers like this,” he told Ray Hadley.
He said where there is a serious flight risk, the law points the magistrate or the judge in the direction of refusing bail.

He’s described as being about 185cm tall, of medium build with brown hair and brown eyes. He has distinctive tattoos covering both arms and his right leg, as well as faded tattoos on his neck and chin.
Anyone who sees Mark, or who has information about his whereabouts, is urged not to approach him, and to call 000 immediately.
Ben Fordham says the incident eerily resembles the escape of Mostafa Baluch.
