Article image for Medibank reveals hackers had access to all customers’ private details in major breach

Medibank has confirmed all of its customers’ personal data has been exposed as the investigation into the major data breach continues.

Yesterday, the health insurer revealed around 1000 Medibank and AHM customers were impacted.

But in a statement today, Medibank says the hacker had access to the personal details of its 3.9 million customers, international students and AHM customers, as well as a significant amount of health claims data.

“As previously advised, we have evidence that the criminal has removed some of our customers’ personal and health claims data and it is now likely that the criminal has stolen further personal and health claims data,” the statement read.

“As a result, we expect that the number of affected customers could grow substantially.”
