Former Liberal MP outraged by teal candidate’s huge cash splash
It can now be revealed how much money was spent on the teal independents campaigns at the last election.
The six successful teal independent candidates were backed by $10.2m of political donations at the last election, according to disclosures released on Monday.
Six new Climate 200 backed independents were elected to the lower house at the 2022 election, along with one senator and the re-election of four MPs.
Collectively, the Climate 200 candidates managed to rustle up nearly $10 million to spend on their campaigns.
Former Liberal MP Jason Falinski, who lost his seat to Climate 200 backed Sophie Scamps, told Jim Wilson he was disgusted with the lack of transparency from the members.
“We are seeing carbon emissions going up and energy prices more than double, but it helps their backers who are heavily invested in renewable energy.”
