NSW parliament makes coercive control a criminal offence
New South Wales has become the first state to criminalise coercive control.
Partners who exercise psychological and financial control could be charged and face seven years jail.
Minister for Women’s Safety Natalie Ward told Deborah Knight it’s been a long journey to get the law passed.
“We finally got there, we have built in really good evidence based legislation.
“It’s all been informed by stakeholders engagement after many years of talking.”
