Distance affecting mental health support in the bush

Removing barriers, preventing people in rural areas from accessing mental health services, will be key to improving wellbeing in the bush.

A James Cook University study shows patients are facing higher risks of suicide and mental health issues the further out of town they live.

Residents in Queensland and WA are the worst affected.

Rural editor Sophie Clarke caught up with lead author Doctor Andrew Amos who is calling for more funding to be funnelled into rectifying the issue.
