Two people have been killed when the car they were in, crashed and burst into flames while trying to evade police.

Police were patrolling the streets of Strathfield last night when they tried to stop the driver of a silver Audi.

When it failed to pull over the officers gave chase.

The car ended up crashing on the westbound on-ramp to the M4 motorway at Homebush.

Police are investigating the incident and an independent review will be carried out.
