60 minutes celebrates 45 years on air

Luke Grant

Former 60 Minutes reporter Ian Leslie reminisces with Michael McLaren on the early days of the show as it enters its 45th consecutive season

Ian reflects on how 60 Minutes came about with some great stories on Kerry Packer and his fights with the producer Gerald Stone. The show got off to a very rocky start and there were some who wanted the show to fail. Ian and his fellow reporters Ray Martin and George Negus were seen to be swanning around the world six months prior to the show chasing stories and costing the network way too much money But Ian remembers those days fondly as the most exciting in his career and shares some great memories with Michael.
